hey dude.. so.. you ask why i put femme where i did.. (rationality is usually not a main concern).. but i do have an answer, or at least a suggestion to what may be deemed as a justifiable aesthtic/conceptual choice.. you are correct in making the connection to speech/kiss.. (the mouth is remarkable, even cooler than black and white eyes of egyptian woman who recieve secondary educations).. yet, maybe perhaps possibly it may be concieved that "femme" french for woman, is also arabic for mouth... and maybe just maybe i was interested in depicting a sort of femme-fetale (since the photo is rendered in a film noir manner) .. implying that arab women who speak (freely) are considered threatening to the macho-man-macho-man-world we live in.. so why not just write mouth in arabic you ask?.. (i dont know if i have it on my keyboard).. and secondly, and more significantly in order to sound smarter, i think my intention was to allude to colonialist reductions of "Oreintal" woman in which ladies were regarded as exotic sexualized objects, (as opposed to agent subjects who could do more than bellydance, do more as in talk, debate, interact on a human to human level rather than the master slave relation so prevalent in today's disgusting world).. in conclusion: down with colonialism.
